Metro Opens at 4 A.M. for "Black Friday" Sales

We are getting ready for the big sales at Columbia Heights retails stores on the Friday after Thanksgiving – known in retail as “Black Friday.”

DC USA, Metropolitan Police, Metro/WMATA, the Department of Transportation and the Development Corporation of Columbia Heights worked with me to prepare for the thousands of shoppers expected to visit the DC USA shopping center.

I worked with Metro/WMATA to secure the early opening of Metro on Friday at 4 a.m. instead of the usual time of 5 a.m. Other plans include store specific lines for early bird shoppers, access to restrooms before stores open and street entertainers.

We are happy to have this shopping outlet that is on Metrobus and Metrorail lines. DC USA also has a 1,000 car garage with $1 parking per hour for the first four hours.

I thank David Stein, building operations manager at DC USA, for his work to help ensure shoppers have a smooth shopping trip.

DC USA is a 500,000 square foot shopping center with a two-level, 180,000 square foot Target. The center has more than a dozen other stores including Best Buy, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond and a Washington Sports Club.
