Yesterday I joined Mayor Fenty to break ground on the construction of the $4 million Ward 1 Senior Wellness Center.

Residents along Georgia Avenue in the Park View/Pleasant Plains neighborhoods have waited a long time for this. I am happy to say that this time next year we will be back at this very spot for the grand opening of a 15,000 square foot, three-story facility at 3531 Georgia Avenue, NW .

The center will offer a comprehensive slate of programs promoting healthy lifestyles and independence for residents who are at least 60 years old.
