If you use the Georgia Avenue/Petworth station on the Green Line, or you ride a bus that stops at that station, I have some changes to share with you.

Construction of the upcoming Park Place development with 156 condominiums (20% affordable) and ground-level retail requires a temporary reconfiguration at the station starting next month.

The escalator entrance on the west side of Georgia Avenue will close December 11 for approximately two years. The elevator on that side will remain open, as will the escalator entrance on the east side.

Metro is also establishing new, temporary bus stops for five routes that run through Ward One: 66, 68, 70, 71 and H8. For a map, click here. Metro will be distributing these maps on the buses and inside the station.

As a voting member of the Metro board of directors since 1999, I worked to put together the deal for Park Place on land formerly owned by Metro. I strongly support this development and the benefits it will bring to Georgia Avenue and Ward One. So I greatly appreciate your patience during the construction.
