Washington DC: The DC Council passed an emergency bill authored by Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward One) yesterday to create a pilot visitor parking program in Mount Pleasant. The program will provide much needed relief for daytime workers, friends, family, and in-home service providers.
The bill was unanimously passed by the Council.
Mount Pleasant residents have expressed concerns about the lack of guest parking due to the high number of Residential Parking Permit restricted blocks.
The bill creates a pilot visitor parking program to utilize available parking. The program is modeled after the successful new pilot program in Ward Four.
Residents will have an opportunity to apply to participate in the program very shortly.
“Visitor parking is important,” said Councilmember Graham. “We will implement the new program and see how it goes. If successful, I hope to expand the program to other neighborhoods in Ward One.”
