Washington, DC - The reward for information in the unsolved murder case of Gregory Shipe has grown to $50,000.
Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward One) requested the increase after a May vigil and rally in Mount Pleasant. Metropolitan Police Chief Charles Ramsey raised the reward and issued new posters for the area around the crime scene in response to Councilmember Graham’s request.
“I hope this extra effort will help bring the killer to justice,” said Councilmember Graham. “We’re talking about a man out walking on a fairly busy street on a Saturday night. Someone must have seen something.”
Shipe was shot to death while walking his dog the evening of September 17, 2005 in the 1700 block of Irving Street, NW.
The case is under investigation by members of the MPD’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Tony Patterson at (202) 645-7065 or Detective Carol Queen at (202) 645-6364 or the Metropolitan Police Department’s Synchronized Operations Command Center (SOCC) at 202 727-9099.
