Washington, DC: Later today, Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward One) and DDOT Director Emeka Moneme will hold a press conference to announce the DC plan for the Metro fare policy.
Metro proposed a fare increase to the Metro Board of Directors last month. The District has since prepared an alternative plan based on equality among riders and jurisdictions.
“The DC plan is fair to riders, supports environmental goals, and will improve Metro’s efficiency,” said Councilmember Graham. “The plan protects the poor and limits price increases that would hurt Metro ridership.”
The District’s plan increases off-peak discounts, maximizes the number of passengers, and expands the popular reserved parking program.
More details will be provided at the press conference, to be held on the steps of the historic John A. Wilson Building at 2pm today.
